Late News

Well what a fun night we had at our screening of Frohe Ostern! Happy Easter!  and What We Did on Our Holiday, on Sat 21 March. The first short film was a great record of how 4 generations of German immigrant families have adapted to Australian life while retaining elements of their own culture and ensuring later generations can carry on their traditions at Easter. Great family interactions. Patrons gave this film an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars. The second film was a real hoot. A dis-functional London family travels to Scotland for their father/grandfather's 75th birthday. The kids get talking with granddad and give away family secrets that they had been told not to talk about. Billy Connolly and the kids are hilarious and act their parts fantastically well. Patrons gave this one an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars.

Our next screening is on Sat 18 April 2026.

The first is again a short film, Transfer of Power, where a group of indigenous workers from Collum Collum cattle station

undertake to exchange a failed vehicle engine for a working one and how it becomes a communal event.

The second film is The Teacher Who Promised the Sea. This film uncovers buried memories of the Spanish civil war.

Set in Catalonia, a woman searches for the remains of her ancestors and discovers cruelty and some warmth.

The full 2026 program of films can be found under the Program tab in the menu above.
